That Kid Training
That Kid Training New Date October 26
That Kid Training is a workshop for parents and anyone else who works with children. It comes highly recommended by one of our board members. Can you invite someone to come? Please do. This is open to the community. It starts at 10am and we will break for lunch and it will conclude at 1:30pm. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP so that we can get a good count for lunch.
The goals of the training are to:
- Help people understand trauma and the impact it has on people’s lives.
- Help people feel more knowledgeable and equipped to deal with the complex realities that they may encounter when ministering to those who have experienced trauma.
- Give practical skills to ministry staff and volunteers.
- Bring Glory to God as everything is done from a Biblical perspective.

Hurricane Milton Clean Up Day is October 19 at 8am
The church is having a workday to tackle the small limbs and such that would hinder the lawn mower from cutting grass. The other focus will be to dismantle the shed. We need tools and rakes and gloves for these tasks. If you have a leaf blower that would also help clearing the parking lot of leaves and pine needles. First Brethren Church is an older congregation so any and all help will be appreciated.
Giving Back Hurricane Milton Cleanup
After lunch this week, many students volunteered to help with the clean up process following Hurricane Milton. The church suffered damage due to big oak trees falling during the storm. Below are some pictures of the aftermath of Milton.

Big Shout Out to Anonymous Donors Who Provided Lunches This Week
A huge THANK YOU to our anonymous donor for providing funding for a hot lunch for our students this week following the hurricane. Tuesday the students were treated to pizza. On Wednesday, Ms. Dawn, Lisa, and Jazzelle made tator tot casserole. Yummy goodness! And on Thursday we are looking forward to sloppy joes.
End of Quarter 1
The end of Quarter 1 is October 17, 2024. Friday there is no school for the students. Teachers have professional development and will be turning in grades for report cards. I am hoping to have report cards to you by October 25, 2024.
We have missed 8 days this quarter. Sarasota County School Board is looking for ways to make-up these days. As soon as I know, I will let you know of the changes.
